I was on a direct flight from Los Angeles to Taiwan during the global health crisis, which was a rather long journey indeed. Back in 2020, due to the near-nonexistent air traffic during that time, the flight was quite empty. My mom flies quite frequently for work and she usually manages to secure upgrades to the business class, and that was the case this time as well. Given how strict Taiwan was back then (only allowing those with a visa or passport from Taiwan to enter Taiwan), the business class was also rather sparsely populated; there was perhaps only one other person aside from us. I am quite fond of drawing, and while I was working on a particularly intricate piece, a flight attendant came by and asked if I wanted another bottle of water. I am usually quite thirsty on planes for the most part, so I said yes and took it, though I felt a bit bad as I assumed they thought I had already finished my other bottle of water and were offering another one for that reason. It wasn’t until we passed through customs that my mom noticed the extra bottle and asked me in confusion where I had gotten it from, as she had already drunk hers and hadn’t received an additional one. We pondered over it for a while before she chuckled and told me what had transpired. Apparently, I was so engrossed in my drawing that I never even noticed the flight attendant standing just a bit behind me, observing me as I drew. They evidently found it quite enjoyable to watch and that’s why they decided to give me an extra bottle of water. We are fairly certain that this was the reason, as it didn’t seem like any of the other business class passengers received an extra bottle of water at any point.
