Talk about a truly embarrassing situation! A pair of airliners in Aberdeen, Scotland, found themselves wedged together after a ground collision. And what’s more, they had to spend the night in this awkward embrace. Thankfully, no one was injured in the collision, except perhaps for the pride of at least one of the two pilots of the jet that caused the bump. Here’s exactly what transpired.

According to the BBC, a FlyBe Bombardier Q400 commuter plane with only the crew on board was taxiing when it accidentally bumped into the back of a Loganair ERJ 145 regional jet. As a result, the forward section of the Q400 became wedged underneath the starboard engine of the Embraer jet, causing its left gear to be completely lifted off the ground. It was a truly perfect fit, if you can believe it. Who would have thought such a thing could happen? It was as if they were made to be wedged together. There were no passengers on either plane at the time of the incident. In fact, the Loganair jet was parked and there was no one aboard when it all took place. The crew of the Q400 was said to have been quite shaken up, but luckily, no one was physically harmed.

It’s not the first time such a ground bump has occurred, although we can’t recall ever seeing a scenario quite like this before. The planes remained in that precarious position while investigators delved into the aftermath of the taxiway tango. Seriously, though, just how difficult is this investigation going to be? It seems like a fairly straightforward case of miscommunication and a bit of bad luck.
